Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Nyobora ("we", "us") operates http://localhost, an online directory that connects people across Rwanda with local service providers. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We process personal data in line with Rwanda's Law N° 058/2021 relating to the protection of personal data and privacy.
2. Data we collect
- Service providers: name, email address, phone number, password (stored encrypted), and any business details you choose to publish — business name, WhatsApp number, address, district, photos and service descriptions.
- Visitors using Favorites: the email address you enter when saving a favorite, stored in a cookie on your device and in our database together with the services you saved.
- Newsletter subscribers: your email address.
- Contact form: the name, email, phone and message you send us.
- Automatically: basic technical data such as page views and approximate usage statistics needed to run and secure the site.
3. How we use your data
- To operate provider accounts and publish the service listings providers create.
- To let visitors save favorites and find them again on their next visit.
- To respond to messages sent through the contact form.
- To send the newsletter to subscribers (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- To keep the platform secure and prevent abuse.
We do not sell personal data to anyone.
4. What is shared publicly
Nyobora is a directory: its purpose is to let customers contact providers directly. When a provider publishes a listing, the business contact phone / WhatsApp number, listing details, photos and the provider's public profile are visible to anyone on the internet. Provider email addresses and passwords are never shown publicly. Customers who contact a provider by phone or WhatsApp share their own number with that provider directly; that conversation happens outside our platform.
5. Cookies
We use a small number of strictly functional cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in, a CSRF security cookie, and — if you use the Favorites feature — a cookie holding the email address you provided so your favorites can be found again. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. You can delete cookies at any time in your browser settings; doing so will clear your saved favorites on that device.
6. Data retention & security
Provider account data is kept for as long as the account exists. Favorites and newsletter subscriptions are kept until you ask us to remove them. Passwords are stored using one-way encryption (hashing) and are never readable by us.
7. Your rights & deletion requests
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you — including deleting a provider account and its listings, removing your email from favorites, or unsubscribing from the newsletter. Email us at info@nyobora.com or use the contact form, and we will act on your request within 30 days.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the platform evolves. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
